Teaching in general, and math in particular, is my passion. This is my fifth-year teaching, but my first-year teaching at Diamond View Middle School. Prior to this, I taught science in both Paradise, California and Woodland, California. I am very excited to teach math because I find the subject to be a lot of fun! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Education from Brigham Young University and Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a Math emphasis from the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley.
On the personal front, I have a wonderful family. My husband and I have 5 children and we recently moved here from Nevada. I enjoy reading, listening to music, and spending time with family. We are happy to be getting involved in the Susanville community and appreciate the beauty all around us here.
Educational Philosophy: All students are capable of
learning. The middle school years are a
time when students need to not only learn about the subjects at hand,
but also learn study skills, work habits, responsibility, and how to
apply critical thinking. Contributing to the success of a student is
their attitude, working smarter not harder, and being able to apply
concepts learned to real life situations.
I look forward to a fabulous year teaching and interacting with my awesome seventh and eighth graders!
